Race Build Up and Results

Hi to all at home.
Today we represented Trinity at the World Schools Cross Country Championships.
Now, this isn't meant to be a whinge, but at TC, Cross Country doesn't even have a budget. Our competition at the World Championships is ranked below a singing tour of China on the school website. And our competition here included schools who are designed to excell at running, institues who come to this competition year after year. And out of over 30 countries, we came 6th! Well in the top 10, and although this is short of a medal placing (and 6 short of the placing we wanted), as the first time TC has been at a "Worlds", and as the first WA school to go, we did ourselves ptroud, and we feel we did our state and school proud. We all ran big PBs in a race with a hectic start and heaps of physicality (Josh Nicolas got elbowed by an Czech runner). We all went out well, and followed our race plan, the first 2 laps of the 1km loop were "98%" with an attitude of "break them, then bury them" on the 3rd and 4th laps, and a heart-on-the-line dash home in the last kilometre. Most countries are staying in the same hotel as us, so we've got a kind of Olympic Village going on here, and although nothing could replace the Senior Ball, today comes very close.
We all hope the Chorale and Hockey Tours went well, and look forward to coming home.
But not too soon.
